THE PLAIN OF VENETO - FROM SOSSANO TO MONTAGNANA

Although the ride runs across a flat land, it's advisable to have good training because of its total length. Starting from Sossano, after visiting the small church of Chiesetta dell'Olmo, go through the village in the direction of Noventa. A hundred meters after the traffic light, turn left on a small asphalt road in the countryside along the river Liona and you'll reach in a couple of kilometers the village of Campiglia dei Berici. Here, on the left, you have the opportunity to visit Villa Repeta built on a project of Palladio but some particular events are still unknown. Turn right, go through the village and follow the direction of the main road called Statale Riviera Berica. Take this road southwards for a few kilometers along a canal, Canale Bisatto, when you are at Finale di Agugliaro, turn left on a small road. There you can visit Villa Saraceno, designed by Palladio, which is now a private house.

Continuing in the direction of Agugliaro and passing Vo'Euganeo, you'll arrive at Parco Regionale dei Colli Euganei. It's a historic and environmental area which you can visit by following the paths and the narrow roads that connect the small villages. Going back towards the plain, you pass by the Valbona castle and you return to the state road Riviera Berica. Go to Noventa Vicentina. Here you can visit the village, especially Villa Barbarigo Da Porto, now the local town-hall. Leaving Noventa, in the direction westwards in a few kilometers you'll reach Pojana Maggiore. On the way you can see another one of Palladio's masterpieces, Villa Pojana. Going straight ahead and passing the typical small villages of Cicogna and Frassine, in eight kilometers you'll arrive at Montagnana. Surrounded the town walls, you can go into the town through the Porta Vicenza. This gate and the other three indicate its perimeter at the cardinal points. To return to Sossano you must go back to Pojana Maggiore. Here go straight ahead towards Sossano. In seven kilometers you are there.
