Holiday in the heart of Veneto

We need a lot of words to fully describe how nature, culture and traditions have grown intertwined to create as years went by a unique example called Veneto and in particular the area delimitated by Berici mountains and by the Valley called Val Leona.
Nature can be helpful, you can realize what we are talking about by watching the sweet outline of these mountains so pleasant and relaxing as you walk or ride a bicycle, especially in spring and in autumn when vegetation takes on particular colours and fragrance, when at the sun-set the stone of caves and cliffs assumes different glints and colours.  The rivers, once rushing and rich of water, flowing down from the wells, the turning of the old mill wheels forerunners of local country traditions, the washboards used by peasant women living in villages in the valley are examples of a changeless life where time was slow and the rhythms were marked by the sound of the bells announcing the "matins", by the noise of carts pulled by oxen, by the smoke of the burning fireplaces, by the screams of the local junk dealer and by the "filo" the peasant's meeting in stables in long cold winter evenings.

In those days meals were frugal and limited to a few slices of toasted "polenta", a piece of cheese or a soup. This was people's everyday life in Val Leona and in the Berici mountains, made up not only of hard work, but also of happy moments with local feasts in the village, such as the celebration of the patron saint, the end of the winter and the beginning of spring or weddings. Their traditions, their humble but honest and decent way of living are an excellent teaching for new generations, an unforgettable experience that deserves to be lived.
